Neonatal Intensive Care

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides the necessary support for all babies who need intensive care. It provides the babies with an opportunity to recover their health in a short time through advanced medical equipment in the light of the up-to-date medical knowledge, while it also offers the necessary sources in order to inform and educate the families for the neonatal care.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit offers a highly advanced care for the babies, who have a high risk such as brain and other organ damage caused by a difficult delivery, the premature babies born in and after 24 weeks, the over weight babies in addition to the babies born with the conditions of multiple pregnancy or meconium (the baby’s first stool passed during pregnancy into the amniotic fluid), and the babies of the mothers, who have the disease of diabetes. In addition that the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides its tiniest patients with all necessary medical services, it also offers healthcare services for all newborn infants, who need for intensive care, both at the hospital in Turkey and in the neighboring countries.       

At the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; respiration support (mechanical ventilation), exchange transfusion, phototherapy, percutaneous drainage catheter procedures (insertion of a thin tube from the venule on the arm and leg to the heart), total parenteral nutrition procedures (supplying all the nutritional needs of a body through vascular access), insertion of a chest tube (treatment of air leak of the lung), invasive blood pressure monitoring (direct measurement of tension from the core vein), bedside EEG (electroencephalogram), bedside ECHO (cardiac ultrasound), bedside USG (ultrasound in order to examine the brain and other internal organs), and retinopathy examination (eye examination of the premature babies) are performed. On a 24/7 basis, the Unit has supported by the departments of Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Pediatric Metabolism & Endocrinology.
